What It Means to Lead WMN Boston
The next Chapter Leader(s) will inherit a strong foundation, chapter funding and resources, active relationships, and a respected brand with room to shape the future direction. Chapter Leaders will be able to work upon previous chapter events and developments as well as shape the Boston chapter into their own vision of what they think best suits the community. While this is not currently structured as a full-time salaried role, funding infrastructure already exists. With the right leadership, the position could evolve into a paid, or could stay as a stipend role, the Chapter Leaders will get to decide what is best for them.
Chapter Leaders will:
Build Community: Cultivate an inclusive, intersectional creative community and foster safe, welcoming spaces for women, trans, and nonbinary musicians to engage in education, workforce development, and community building programing.
Produce Events: Produce events such as workshops, meetups, classes, songwriting and production camps, and/or festivals and collaborate with the global WMN team on shared programming. The Chapter Leaders will inherit previous programming and program funding, but will ultimately be responsible for choosing the programming that best suits the needs of the community, and most excites leadership.
Grow Partnerships: Maintain and expand partner relationships with artists, teaching artists, partner orgs, sponsors and the greater Boston community.
Advocate and Represent: Champion gender equity in music and tech spaces and amplify underrepresented voices in Boston’s creative scene. Work with the Boston music community to create programming that reflects the needs of the community.
